Winegrowing region Komorna began planting its first grapes in the year 2008, while in April 2013 offically recieves its official name. Komarna winegrowing region is located at the position of Southern Dalmatia in Dubrovnik-Neretva County, on the road from Split to Dubrovnik (60 km before), it is a relatively young winegrowing area covering 82 hectares of vineyards planted by seven wineries ( 3 in development). The soil of this region is minced, made up mostly of limestone and fairly any soil, tilted up to 30%, with vineyards positioned from 250 m above sea level falling all the way towards the sea. Vineyards are facing south and southwest and because of its unique location and breathability all producers reported organic production. The varieties planted in the vineyards ,contain 92% of autochthon dalmatian sorts (Plavac, Pošip, Tribidrag, Maraština, Babic) and the rest are international varieties (Syrah, Chardonnay, Tempranillo, Cabernet, Viogner).

There are currently four winemakers in Komarna with their wines on the market (Saints Hills; Rizman; Volarević and Poljopromet), while three are waiting for their first wines (Cooperatives Modro-zelena and Neretvanski branitelj and OPG Deak). The first winery is under construction and will be completed by spring 2014 (Rizman), while others will soon have their own winery and tasting area located in their vineyards along the wine roads which will be completed by the year 2014.

Wineries have established their own association under the name K7, which aims to control the quality of the wine in the vineyards Komarna and promote the common interests of the wineries and development of rural tourism in this region.
